i know this sounds crazy yeah, but it doesn't feel like i'm talking to myself yeah, does that make sense? does that make sense? it feels like i'm actually talking to Him.
just this wednesday God introduced me to this soul. i was looped into a discussion about humanities, to put on the most general scale. i asked her, "if you don't believe in love, then how do you believe in God?"
it is the saddest thing that the most important abstract noun in the english language possesses a beautiful power that society has trampled on the perception of. "but it just seems so fake," nicolette said in exasperation. "it feels so unreal."
it was one of those rare times my heart beat faster but with a mind so calm. the rare times the back of my head feels warm and my hands slightly shake. so much energy, but without the racing thoughts.
that last hour or so of school was illuminated. in desperate attempts at whispers to avoid the reprimand of a teacher, four of us exchanged thoughts in the study room. i saw this girl the most, and not because she was sitting directly in front of me.
i saw a soul in search for its light, a soul weary of darkness. a soul who knows that the world tremendously falls short, and knows what Doesn't - but isn't quite aware just how much bigger it is than she. a soul who is hungry. a soul who just wants to be found.
i realized this while i listened to her express her thoughts and was reminded of natalie grant's song "the real me" :
Foolish heart, looks like we're here again
Same old game of plastic smile, don't let anybody in
Hiding my heartache, will this glass house break?
How much will they take before I'm empty?
Do I let it show, does anybody know?
But You see the real me
Hiding in my skin, broken from within
Unveil me completely
I'm loosening my grasp
There's no need to mask my frailty
'Cause you see the real me
that day i merely listened to myself speak to her about my faith. small, it is. a mustard seed. but maybe if that mustard seed sprouted, it was on that day. i merely listened to my words, and merely felt my lips and my eyes smiling. before i left the room, she said, "i think i should do some research on God."
so many people in the world, so many different lives being lived. and He shows me more and more of this 6.7 billion population having souls with only one purpose: to find truth.
