024 : 1.24
my sister and i walked across the width of sutton high street from Waterstone's to Wilkinson's, and this caught our eye. i suppose we'd never seen it before because there always used to be booths in the area, all saturday market -ish.
i wonder how long ago this was done, and how long ago this six-year-old girl was six. because reading is sadly a passion with a dwindling, lukewarm flame in the new young generation. they want nintendo wiis and guitar hero now.
i haven't been to a library here, though the sutton central library is just across the street from high street. i hope to find one of those vintage libraries with books that smell old and hold yellowing pages. those little quaint bookstores with history seeping from its walls; chairs with the aura of past literature greats.
